Dessert Mummies

Dessert Mummies
Pareve—Serves 4 generously* (easy to double or triple)

Ingredients  rsz mummy copy

  • 4- 8” flour tortillas
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup marshmallows cut into small pieces (finding kosher mini marshmallows is not easy)
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or 4 oz. bittersweet chocolate. Chop into smaller chunks using the food processor. (finding pareve mini chocolate chips is not easy, either).
  • Cinnamon and sugar
  • Chocolate syrup for decorating if the artistic spirit moves you.

  1. Preheat oven to 450º.
  2. Place tortilla on heavy duty foil or 2 layers of regular foil.
  3. Spread 2 Tblsp. of peanut butter on each tortilla
  4. Sprinkle the tortilla with ¼ cup marshmallows and 2 Tblsp. chocolate chips.
  5. Roll up.
  6. Wrap seal tightly.
  7. Bake 7-10 min. until heated through.
  8. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  9. If you feel creative, try drawing an Egyptian face on the tortilla with chocolate syrup.

You can prepare your mummies ahead of time, bake just before Shabbat, and hold them in the oven to keep them warm until dessert. They’re gooey so keep extra napkins handy.
These can also be prepared on an outdoor grill.

*My grandchildren caution that most people will only be able to eat 1/2 of a mummy.
